We are sad to say that Samson recently passed away in July 2001 due to
Salmonella. He was the first horse rescued and he started the
sanctuary. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed!
| Samson was rescued from a horse slaughter truck where he
was headed for a dog food factory
He was previously a barrel racing horse. He is a very sweet
and loving horse. |

|
Samson had several critical problems including:
 | Navicular Disease - A degenerative disease of the navicular bone of the
right front foot. The vet describes it as the worst ankle that he
has ever seen. |
 | RingBone - A bony swelling that distorts the hoof capsule. |
 | Blindness in his left eye. |
|

|
He was given medication every day to alleviate the pain
associated with movement. His feet required extra attention from the farrier due to
Navicular and Ringbone. |
